Deming is a city in Luna County, New Mexico, United States, located 60 miles (97 km) west of Las Cruces. The population was 14,116 at the 2000 census. Deming is the county seat and principal town of Luna County.

The city, founded in 1881 and incorporated in 1902, was an important port of entry on the US-Mexican border until the Gadsden Purchase of 1853. Deming boast 3 vineyards, pecan orchards, chili and onion farms and some cattle ranches. The properties are flat, located in the high desert (4000 ft) in an area known for it's consistent successful wells, with good flow rates and water purity. The soil is easily tillable and farmers in the area grow prolific crops of onions, melons, pecans and famous green chilies!

There are numerous ancient Native American sites around Deming. The Mimbres and Casas Grandes cultures made pottery of remarkable quality, and the Deming area is (or was) rich in native pottery artifacts...as well as beads, stone implements, stone carvings, graves, etc. Rock hound State Park has a beautiful visitor center and allows visitors to rock hound for gems. There is a native plant identification garden at the visitor center.

The Chihuahuan Desert is very diverse in both plants and animals. There are numerous species of wildflowers that grow naturally depending on rainfall, but the natural landscape is dominated by creosote bush, honey mesquite, and soaptree yucca. Numerous species of cactus are common on and around the many small mountain ranges nearby. Jack rabbits and cottontail rabbits are common, as are kangaroo rats and other small rodents. With such abundant, easy-to-spot small animal prey, hawks and buzzards are often flying overhead. Coyotes can often be heard at night. Porcupines and skunks are common. Songbirds, sparrows, jays, crows, and roadrunners are abundant. There are ibis in the Florida Mountains as well as deer, bear, sheep, and even parrots can be found in some of the nearby mountains.

We do not manufacture the portable solar wagons at this time. There are several companies that do. We used one company from southern California and we are not happy with the customer service and cooperation from that manufacturer. There is a local Montana company that we have heard good things about called Independent Power. Snowbird Homes and Land recommends that you contact various solar distributors and manufactures on your own.  Please consult Backwoods Home for your solar needs. In the future we will be developing our own, similar power unit as pictured  so that we can provide good customer service.
